My research focuses on Geography and GIS Education. My current research activities involve determining how problem-based learning techniques influence student learning in GIS courses, and the influences of their thoughts or perceptions of this instructional method in their coursework and general learning. In addition to Geography Education broadly, I also am interested in Geography's role in education. For Geography Education, I'm interested in how students perceive Geography as a field of study; how students learn geographic concepts; and how teachers and instructors conceptualize geography as a field of study. I'm interested in the way Geography departments are structured and the place of Geography in the overall University landscape, in addition to other aspects of Higher Education structure and organization. My first major research project was on Helium supply and I maintain a keen interest in Helium supply, elemental supply, and natural resources.
